The River City Health, Safety and Environmental Council meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Garnett Wise will recap the ADEQ's 2-hour "Hazwaste Generator Workshop" presented by Clyde Rhodes, the ADEQ's Hazwaste Division Chief on Thursday March 4, 2010. Clyde's presentation's subtitle was "Fundamentals of Hazardous Waste Management for Generators" and it was an overview of Arkansas Regulation 23 hazardous waste and universal waste rules. It included definitions of hazardous waste, classifications of generators, management of hazwaste containers, labeling, storage, recordkeeping, training requirements, contingency planning, reporting, transportation, etc. Garnett Wise, REM Garnett has been with Safety & Environmental Associates, Inc. since February 2008 as EHS Specialist and Northwest Arkansas Office Manager, where he focuses on providing industrial environmental regulatory compliance and ISO-14001 assistance. Garnett has been a member of the Arkansas Environmental Federation Board of Directors since 1998, and he was appointed by Governor Mike Beebe to the State Emergency Response Commission in July 2007. Garnett served 8 years in officer positions with the River City Safety & Environmental Council from 1996 to 2004; and also served on the City of Fort Smith’s Solid Waste Task Force for 6 years. Garnett’s previously employment includes 3 years at Superior Industries International in Fayetteville as Environmental Manager, a manufacturer of OEM aluminum automotive wheels, and 14 years at Riverside Furniture Corporation here in Fort Smith as Safety and Environmental Manager. For over 18 years, SEA Inc. has provided a full range of safety, environmental & I.H. program development and compliance assistance; OSHA, DOT and EPA-related training; meth lab and mold testing and remediation services.
