Sincerely, Jennifer Position Summary Assisting the Safety Manager by helping to ensure that all safety related functions comply with company, State, and Federal regulations, and promoting a zero accident culture. Primary Responsibilities * Assists Safety Manager in formulating, interpreting, communicating and improving the industrial health and safety of all employees. * Conducts safety training, including the new employee safety orientation. * Provides assistance in safety and health compliance to department superintendents, supervisors, safety team members, and contractors. * Actively participates in the daily “Safety Hour" and provides recommendations for future daily topics. * Regularly performs and administers safety and health audits throughout the facility to ensure compliance with governmental and company requirements. * Actively participates in accident prevention activities to include: inspections, observations, and incident investigations. * Maintains contact with other safety professionals through participation in the local, regional and company safety events, including the internet based safety forum group. * Organizes and facilitates annual safety training with outside consultants, and schedules plant personnel accordingly. * Provides 24 hour on-call support to the safety department as determined by the safety manager. Requirements * Post-secondary degree in safety, engineering, environmental or related discipline is required. * Previous experience in industry for 2-3 years is required. * Requires working knowledge of OSHA, ACGIH, NIOSH, NFPA, workers’ compensation laws, local labor agreement, first-aid and medical procedures, current management and training techniques, fire fighting/property protection techniques, concepts and equipment, good written, verbal, reading, listening, retention, and interpersonal skills. * A working knowledge of general mechanics and sciences are needed. * Prior experience in industrial safety and/or other related discipline is recommended. * Must be able to work with a multi-disciplinary group of production operators, supervisors, engineers and other technical specialists.
